Today, Dad and I are drafting up our summer adventures plan. The objective is to find at least 10 destinations of interest.
1. First in our list is the island of Caye Caulker, Belize.
“Caye Caulker is a small limestone coral island off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea. Caye Caulker is located approximately 20 miles of Belize City and is accessible by water taxi boats or small planes.” -Wikipedia
My parents and I visited Caye Caulker 3 years ago when I was only 5. I am excited to go back for a second time.
My second trip for the summer should be slow and relaxed.
2. Mayan ruins of Belize
“For almost 3000 years, the ancient Maya civilization flourished in Belize, building towering temples as tribute to their god-like rulers. The remains of these once-mighty city-states are scattered throughout the country.” – Lonely Planet
Dad and I have visited many Mayan sites in Belize such as Xunantunich, Altun Ha, Lamanai and Cahal Pech. This year we plan to visit Cerros in the Corozal District of Belize.
3. Isla de Flores, Guatemala.
“Flores is a town in Peten, Guatemala. The city itself is a wonder — dense with colonial, red-roofed buildings, narrow cobblestone streets, a historic church and Spanish plaza, and restaurants that are easy to stumble upon walking the city’s charming streets. Flores is a quiet and peaceful place.” -wikitravel
My Mom and Dad have visited Flores in the past but this will be my first time on the tiny Island. I can’t wait!
